Saints’ Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams may leave team after this season

Rumors have been spreading across sports media that New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams may not return to the organization next season.  Williams’ contract with the Saints ends after this season, and he has an old friend possibly returning to NFL coaching.

San Francisco 49ers Frank Gore Injury Report

Good news 49ers fans, the injury to Frank Gore’s knee is just a bruise. This only further confirms that the coaches went the safe route with Gore in Sunday’s game. 

Will New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw play against the 49ers on Sunday?

Unfortunately not.  Bradshaw is still recovering from a foot injury, and will not risk further damage against the 49ers #1 run defense.  Running back Brandon Jacobs will start in place of Bradshaw.

Frank Gore (ankle)

Limited practice Thursday, however CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported that Gore was running better today, after a noticeable limp Wednesday, due to his tweaked ankle. “I feel good,” Gore said. “I’ll go out and practice today and practice Friday and get ready for Sunday.” With the New York Giant’s 25th ranked run defense, Gore should have a good chance picking up another 100 yard game.

Mavericks and Thunder Game 3 Breakdown

Here’s the breakdown:

The quick turnaround (1 day rest between games, instead of 3 for the Bulls/Heat)
will ensure the Mavs are freshly angry from the home loss, their first in these
playoffs and only the second in over two months.

With the win, the Thunder hasn’t lost consecutive games yet in the playoffs so far
(Dallas lost the first two in Portland).

The reserves came through for the Thunder, outscoring the NBA’s top-scoring
bench in the regular season (40.4 PPG) 53-22 after being beaten 29-50 by them
in game 1.

Russell Westbrook went 6 of 13 from the field on pick-and-roll opportunities
after making 1-of-12 field-goal attempts off pick-and-rolls in Game 1 but didn’t
come off the bench during the 4th quarter because the bench was doing so well.

But Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison took turns crowding Dirk Nowitzki, making him
put the ball on the floor and keeping him to 13 points on 3-for-7 shooting in the
first 3 quarters.

Both games so far have seen a ton of wild double-digit swings, which has
resulted in a ton of points.
Dallas allowed 112 and 106 points to the Thunder after holding the Blazers and
Lakers under 100 in each of the 10 games before that.

The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between both teams but the Under is 7-1
in the last 8 meetings in Oklahoma City.

The Milwaukee Brewers are part of Major League Baseball’s National League Central Division.  The Brewers play their home games at Miller Park, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

History

The Brewers joined Major League Baseball’s American League as an expansion team in 1969.  They moved to the National League after the 1997 season.

The Milwaukee Brewers struggled early on, failing to post a winning record until the 1978 season.  This first winning season sparked consecutive years of success.  In 1979, Gorman Thomas set the single season home record for the team (45) and led the Brewers to second place in the Eastern division and a second consecutive winning season.  In 1981, the Brewers reached their first playoff series, losing to the legendary New York Yankees.  The next year, 1982, the Brewers won their first American League championship defeating the California Angels in 5 games.  They lost the 1982 World Series, their first appearance, to the St. Louis Cardinals.  The star players during the late 70’s – early 80’s winning seasons were pitchers Rollie Fingers and Pete Vuckovich, and infielder/outfielder Robin Yount.

In 1903, the Pittsburgh Pirates played and lost (to Boston) in what has been recognized as the first Modern World Series.  During this period, Honus Wagner played shortstop for the Pirates, known to be the best shortstop of his time, he helped lead the team to many successful seasons and its first World Series title in 1909.  The Pirates had a slump before reaching their second World Series and winning their first World Series title in 1925, defeating the Washington Senators.  The Pirates made it to their third World Series just two years later, but got sweeped by the New York Yankees in the 1927 World Series.

New York Mets, a professional baseball team, is one of five teams in the East Division of the National League. The Mets, short for Metropolitans, play at Shea Stadium in Flushing, New York, and wear white, blue and orange uniforms.

In 1962 in the team’s first season, the Mets posted a league-worst 40-120 record. But seven years later the so-called “Miracle” Mets of 1969 shocked the baseball world by winning the NL pennant and going on to defeat the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles in the World Series. The team was led by NL Cy Young Award winner Tom Seaver.
