Mavericks and Thunder Game 3 Breakdown
If the Mavs took the Thunder too lightly in game 2, they won’t now. Dallas +3
Here’s the breakdown:
The quick turnaround (1 day rest between games, instead of 3 for the Bulls/Heat)
will ensure the Mavs are freshly angry from the home loss, their first in these
playoffs and only the second in over two months.
With the win, the Thunder hasn’t lost consecutive games yet in the playoffs so far
(Dallas lost the first two in Portland).
The reserves came through for the Thunder, outscoring the NBA’s top-scoring
bench in the regular season (40.4 PPG) 53-22 after being beaten 29-50 by them
in game 1.
Russell Westbrook went 6 of 13 from the field on pick-and-roll opportunities
after making 1-of-12 field-goal attempts off pick-and-rolls in Game 1 but didn’t
come off the bench during the 4th quarter because the bench was doing so well.
But Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison took turns crowding Dirk Nowitzki, making him
put the ball on the floor and keeping him to 13 points on 3-for-7 shooting in the
first 3 quarters.
Both games so far have seen a ton of wild double-digit swings, which has
resulted in a ton of points.
Dallas allowed 112 and 106 points to the Thunder after holding the Blazers and
Lakers under 100 in each of the 10 games before that.
The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between both teams but the Under is 7-1
in the last 8 meetings in Oklahoma City.
The Over is 12-4-1 in the last 17 games following a ATS loss by the Mavericks
and 8-2 in their last 10 games as a road underdog.
The Under is 15-5 in the last 20 home games for the Thunder vs. a team with a
road winning % of greater than .600 though.
Dallas is 9-3-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Oklahoma City, 12-3-1 ATS in their
last 16 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, 13-3 ATS in their last 16
games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5 and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games
playing on 1 days rest.
The Thunder are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning
road record.
