Saints’ Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams may leave team after this season

Rumors have been spreading across sports media that New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams may not return to the organization next season.  Williams’ contract with the Saints ends after this season, and he has an old friend possibly returning to NFL coaching.

We believe the speculation on Williams’ departure from New Orleans has been triggered by former Titans coach Jeff Fisher’s possible return to coaching.  Williams was Fisher’s Defensive Coordinator in Tennessee from 1997-2000, and rumors have the two coaches reuniting in St.Louis or Miami.  The Saints defense regressed this year from their 2009 Super Bowl winning season, so the speculation is not surprising.  We don’t expect to hear anything ‘concrete’ until the Saints season ends.
